Can You Make Meatloaf In An Air Fryer
Yes! In fact with air fried meatloaf you get a juicy tender meatloaf in less time.
The size of your meatloaf will be dependent on the size of your air fryer. But this recipe will work for most air fryer sizes. If using a smaller air fryer, don’t go over 1Lb of ground beef.
I make a tin foil ‘cradle’ for my meatloaf because I don’t want all the juices to drip down. Bonus, it makes cleanup soooo much easier too!
Nuwave Air Fryer Oven vs Power XL
I primarily use a 10qt Nuwave Air Fryer Oven and have used a 3.4 qt Power XL Air Fryer. Each air fryer cooks differently. This is something you want to keep in mind. When first using your new air fryer, watch the food closely to get an idea of how quickly it cooks. Cook time does vary from air fryer to air fryer, sometimes with a several minute difference.
The Power XL Air Fryer is the smaller of the two and I find that food cooks quite a bit quicker in the smaller air fryer. If you are single or have a family of 3 or less then this air fryer will do you just fine.
The 10qt Nuwave Air Fryer fits much more food but requires a little more time to cook. It is also extremely large and takes up a ton of space on your countertop.

How To Make Meatloaf In An Air Fryer Oven
- In large bowl combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, milk, egg, garlic, garlic powder, Worcestershire sauce, Italian seasoning, salt and pepper. Mix until ingredients come together. Do not over-mix.
- Form mixture into a loaf of even thickness (about 2 inches thick). A rectangular shape works best for even cooking.
- Form a piece of foil into a ‘cradle’ for the meatloaf. A rectangle shape larger than the loaf with the edges curled up. Pace into the air fryer making sure it does not cover the basket entirely. Air needs to be able to flow through the basket. Spray foil with nonstick.
- Place meatloaf onto foil.
- Air fry at 375ºF for 25 minutes. Slather with glaze then air fry at 375ºF for 10 more minutes or until internal temp reaches 160ºF.
How Long To Cook Meatloaf In Air Fryer
Cook your meatloaf until it reaches an internal temperature of 160ºF. Time will vary depending on the air fryer you are using and the thickness of your meatloaf.
To ensure even cooking make sure your meatloaf is the same thickness throughout, I typically make my loaf flat and rectangular to achieve this.
My air fryer meatloaves take about 35 minutes to cook through.
How To Glaze Meatloaf
I prefer a simple glaze of ketchup, spicy mustard, brown sugar and Worcestershire sauce. Mix and slather on top of the meatloaf the last 10 minutes of cooking.
I don’t use all of the glaze, leaving some for serving alongside meatloaf slices.
How To Slice Meatloaf
I find that using a long serrated knife works best. Slice in an even motion using gentle pressure to achieve nice slices for serving.
