Seriously, if you are not cooking your chicken in the air fryer you need to start asap. In the air fryer the chicken can get that nice golden crispy skin while staying super juicy on the inside.
Bone-in skin-on thighs are no exception. In fact, the air fryer is my absolute favorite way to cook chicken thighs.
This recipe is for very basic chicken thighs. We are just salting the thighs and crisping that skin. If you decide to add seasoning be warned that some seasonings will burn in the heat of the air fryer. And of course, feel free to add a flavorful sauce to the chicken once cooked. But I like them just as they are…salty, crispy goodness.
How Long Do You Cook Chicken Thighs In An Air Fryer
The time will vary slightly depending on the size of the chicken thighs and the air fryer you use. They take about 20 minutes to cook through. Boneless thighs take less time, keep that in mind if using boneless.
How Do You Know When Chicken Thighs Are Done
The chicken will no longer be pink on the inside and the juices will run clear. As always, cook your chicken to an internal temp of 165ºF.

- 2 Lbs Bone-In, Skin-On Chicken Thighs
- Sea Salt
Instructions
- Pat chicken thighs dry with paper towel. Generously salt thighs then transfer to greased air fryer basket.
- Air fry at 400ºF for 20 minutes or until chicken reaches 165ºF internal temp.
