Air Fryer Spaghetti Squash: A Fast and Healthy Twist on a Classic
Spaghetti squash has become a favorite among low-carb, gluten-free, and health-conscious eaters due to its pasta-like texture and mild flavor. While roasting it in the oven is a common method, cooking spaghetti squash in an air fryer is a game changer.
Why Cook Spaghetti Squash in an Air Fryer?
-
Time-Saving: Traditional oven roasting takes about 40–50 minutes. In the air fryer, spaghetti squash is done in 20–25 minutes.
-
Energy-Efficient: Using an air fryer means no need to heat up the whole kitchen with your oven.
-
Better Texture: The circulating hot air in the fryer crisps the edges slightly while keeping the flesh moist and tender—ideal for that “spaghetti” texture.

Ingredients
- 2 pound spaghetti squash small to medium, size depends on the size of your air fryer
- 1 tbsp avocado oil or olive oil
- 1/2 tsp kosher salt
- 1/8 tsp black pepper
- garlic powder (optional)
- paprika (optional)
- crushed red pepper (optional)

Instructions
- If your spaghetti squash is too big for your air fryer - cut the ends off.
Then slice spaghetti squash in half longways with a sharp knife – do this carefully because it will be hard. Pro Tip: puncture and microwave squash for 2-3 minutes to soften slightly before cutting. - Scoop out seeds with a large spoon and discard.
- Place squash halves in the air fryer basket. Drizzle with oil and sprinkle with spices.
- Cook for 18-20 minutes at 380ºF. You’ll know the spaghetti squash is done when a spoon or fork easily goes through the flesh of the squash.
- Carefully remove squash from air fryer - it will be hot. Hold onto the squash with a pot holder and scrape the flesh into long strands using a fork.
- Top with parsley.
