Making French toast sticks in your air fryer is super easy. Just prep as usual then cook them to golden brown. The best part is that French toast in the air fryer does not require frying in butter or oil. So these French toast sticks are a bit lighter than traditional French toast.
Serve with Dulce de Leche, syrup or jam.

Ingredients
- 1 French baguette
- 8 eggs
- 1 ¼ cup whole milk
- 1 tablespoon honey
- Zest of one orange
- ¾ teaspoon salt
Instructions
- Preheat air fryer to 375° F.
- Cut the ends off the baguette and discard. Cut the baguette in half, lengthwise. Then cut into five equal pieces, crosswise (each piece should measure 3 inches in length)
- Take each of the five pieces and separate the tops from the bottoms. Cut each of those pieces lengthwise into 3 equally sized sticks (you should have a total of 30 sticks each measuring 3 inches in length)
- In a wide and shallow mixing bowl combine eggs, milk, honey, salt, and whisk to combine so that the honey has dissolved.
- Dip bread into egg mixture and allow it to soak in the liquid for 3-5 minutes.
- Shake excess liquid from each stick and place in the air fryer in a single layer with enough space around each stick for air to circulate. (You will need to air fry in several batches so as not to overcrowd the air fryer).
- Bake for 7 minutes shaking halfway through.
- Once the French toast sticks puff up and are golden brown, remove them from the air fryer and place them in an oven set on low to keep warm while you air fry the remaining sticks.
- Serve with dulce de leche, syrup, jam or powdered sugar.
Notes
It’s best to use stale bread, as fresh bread will become too mushy when soaking up the egg mixture and won’t hold up quite as well when cooked.
You can make bread stale by placing it in an oven set to 225° F for about 15 minutes.
